A Special Thanks to Apryl DeLancey!
June 23, 2008 - The Breakers would like to thank Apryl DeLancey for her coverage of the team this year. This sports enthusiast came to us wanting to find out more about our team and women’s football. With her blogs, which included home game summaries and interviews with some of our players and coaches, she has helped us spread the word to several readers about the game we enjoy playing. Thank you Apryl!
To wrap up the season DeLancey interviewed Head Coach Anthony Bartley in her 5 Questions and Recap blog »
Breakers Finish 4 - 4 After Defeating Monsoon
June 16, 2008 - In their first year as members of the IWFL, the Southern California Breakers finished their season Saturday night with a win, defeating the Tucson Monsoon 24 - 6 in Arizona.
Starting off with low numbers on the active roster, the Breakers faced overwhelming odds from the beginning as both veteran and rookie players learned to play several positions on both sides of the ball. While only winning one game at home, but finishing the season 4 - 4, So Cal outscored the oppostition 140 - 105. Competing with tough opponents like the California Quake (8-0) and Las Vegas Showgirlz (5-3) will only help the Breakers improve during the offseason in prepartion for next year. Check back soon for news on tryouts.
The Breakers would like to thank all of the volunteers that helped work during our home games, all of the sponsors and generous people that allowed us to play this season, all of the staff members that dedicated their valuable time in keeping us going day to day, all of the players’ families who adjusted their schedules and allowed the commitment of the players to the team, and most importantly the fans who were always there supporting us at our games. Without our fans, we wouldn’t be able to continue to play the sport we love!
A Message to the Quake: Kick butt! The Breakers wish the Quake well in the playoffs as they represent the teams of Pacific Southwest Division. Their first postseason game will be on June 28th against the Dallas Diamonds (8-0) in Bedford, Texas.
