History

The Southern California Breakers women’s football team was established in 2007 by a group of veteran players who wanted to continue to provide women the opportunity to play football in Southern California.  Prior to establishment, the Breakers were known as the Orange County Breakers; a team that completed three seasons in the Western Conference of the National Women’s Football Association (NWFA).  During that time the Breakers played an exhibition season, losing only one game, then completed its second season undefeated with eight wins, before finishing its third season with five wins and three losses.

In 2008 the Breakers continued to pursue the path to success by competing against other well established teams in the Pacific Southwest Division of the IWFL.  While the Breakers outscored the opposition 140 - 105 against the California Quake, Las Vegas Showgirlz, Tucson Monsoon, New Mexico Menace and Redding Rage, the team broke even with a record of four wins and four losses.  Despite our record, the season was considered a huge success!
